I photographed that village few years earlier for Touring Magazine. I was one of the first photographers to arrive in Amatrice a few hours after the earthquake. Pescara del Tronto, is completely razed to the ground. The municipalities of Amatrice, Accumoli and Arquata del Tronto are devastated by the earthquake. On August 24, 2016, at 3:36 am, a 6.0 magnitude earthquake shook the lives of 600,000 people, leaving 299 victims under the rubble. During this five years from start of her story, Shiva has never stopped protesting through her social networks and supporting the fight for the freedom of Iran, where she hopes to back for re-embrace the family. Shiva starts her first job in Italy as a coach for various youth football teams in Genoa. After the failed attempts of Genoa and Juventus clubs, due to a permission denied by the Iranian Federation, a rupture of the meniscus, Shiva tried to referee but the final decision was the coaching exam for the youth teams.
After few years in Switzerland as an asylum seeker, she decided to come in Italy, where obtained a residence permit. Following the threats of the Iranian authorities to her family and the possibility of being arrested in her country, Shiva decided doesn’t return to Iran. She was on vacation in Switzerland on 2017, when she posted some photos of her playing with friends, without a headscarf and in shorts on social media.
